Significance:
A fine example of a simple courthouse with applied decoration in the form of gable ends and Classical portico, this building is important to the townscape at this part of Kempsey as it forms a terminating point of a group consisting of All Saint's Anglican Church and the Railway Hotel.

Description: Symmetrically planned brick courthouse with render to pillasters parapets etc, and exaggerated portico and gables. Adjacent police residence in Federation style and modern (extensions to) original police station in sympathetic form. Modern brick fence is out of character.
